If you haven't taken the Eurostar across the channel from Luxembourg to London, now is the ideal time to give it a try. High-speed trains run from Luxembourg City to the British capital, putting one of the world's great cities within easy reach.
Taking the train from Luxembourg to London isn't the fastest way to travel between the two cities, but it's easy and much greener than flying - great for people that don't enjoy aeroplanes. Trains can reach London in under six hours (usually with a quick change in Bruxelles-Midi). The first leg of the journey will involve either SNCF or SNCB, and both companies offer comfortable and reliable services. After that, you can switch to the Eurostar, which wastes no time, zooming under the sea to the heart of London.
When you emerge from London St-Pancras, the possibilities are endless. You can hop on the London Underground to head for some serious shopping in Oxford Street, visit the Tate Modern, or see the sights from the London Eye. In any case, unlike flights to Heathrow or Gatwick, Eurostar services put you at the centre of the action. It's time to pay London a visit. Most of the train companies across Europe release their tickets around three to six months in advance, many of which can be cheaper the earlier you book. If you know the dates you want to travel, you may be able to find some cheaper train tickets from Luxembourg to London by booking early.§
Many of the train services in Europe are also popular commuter services, lots of train companies increase ticket prices during “peak hours” (generally between 06:00 – 10:00 and 15:00 – 19:00 on weekdays). If you can, consider travelling outside of peak hours to find lower priced tickets.
