Arlesey station opened in 1850 but was closed in 1959. Today's station building opened in 1988 and welcomes trains travelling on the East Coast Main Line, with regular services to London King's Cross and Peterborough. Arlesey is also the closest station to the towns of Stotfold and Shefford, as well as the villages Langford, Clifton and Henlow. The nearest bus stop for onward travel is just outside the station on Old Oak Road.
Arlesey itself lies to the east of the railway line and is predominantly residential. One of the landmarks of the town is the 12th-century Saint Peter's Church, a short walk south of the station. To the north of the town lie Arlesey Old Moat and Glebe Meadows, two nature reserves alongside the railway tracks, and these green spaces offer locals and visitors a number of walks through the meadows, wetlands and woodlands.
